TASK: Improving oral skills

I recovered this blog in order to put in order the current activity.

I designed this activity for my 6 year old students. They are working in pairs, and they have to sign in to Voki page  and create two characters: one is going to ask basic personal questions and the other is going to answer the questions. The students have to have prepared the questions before. Once they create the avatars, they have to record with the own voice the questions they had prepared or they can key the sentence.

After create the dialogue, the teacher will link the embed code to the blog of the class. Now, the parents can take a look of the activity their kids did and how they speak English.

This is going to look like this.

IDENTIFY LETTERS

This game is designed for 4 or 5 year-old-kids.

First, they learn all the letters of the alphabet and one word and sentence for each letter.

The voice says the letter that you choose and says the sentence.

After that, you can play the game. The voice says one letter and the kids have to find the letter.

The web page is called:

After that, we are going to create our own dictionary. All the class together are going to think about words from the class, or animals, colors,etc... and we will do an original dicctionary.

Each kid is going to write and draw the word, and the teacher will help the kid to write one sentence.

After that, we can stick the dictionary above the blackboard, and the kids won't forget the words, because they made by their own.

THE EENSEY WEENSEY SPIDER

A good way to learn english is singing, and English language  have good Nursey Rhymes to do it. One typical song is Eensey Weensey Spider.

On the webpage: Super Simple Learning i found resources to work on this song, and thousands of more songs.

On this webpage you can also find recommendations for English Second Language teachers and parents.

We are going to sing this song at class, and do the movements that the song says with the fingers.

When they know the song, we will act like being the spider with a spider puppet.

We will prepare an stage with a water spout, a house, sun and rain, and each kid will move their own spider.

DORA THE EXPLORER. ALPHABET GAME

Dora The Explorer is an Education Cartoon who motivates kids to learn English. We can see Dora cartoon on TV, and she is bilingual, and she teaches english. There are a lot of resources with Dora, and I introduce this, an interection game where the kids have to move Dora in order to find the alphabet. In some letters, the game stops and you have to find words that start with the letter.

Here you can see a screen capture of the game:

DORA ALPHABET FOREST ADVENTURE GAME

After the game, we are going to play a real forest adventure.

The teacher have to prepare:

- Boxes or envelopes with the letters of the alphabet
- Images and words starting with each letter.

The teacher will hide some words and pictures all over the class, and the kids have to collect and classify it inside the word boxes or envelopes.

PICTURE BINGO

This is an interesting web page where you can create your own flashcards, bingo, crosswords, games,etc... The webpage is called:

I created one activity for four-year-old kids. I chose the vocabulary of the unit, and I designed a picture Bingo. They have to listen the word and cross the picture, and play like a regular Bingo. They can play alone or with groups.

The good point of this application is that you can create all columns and rows that you wish, and create different templates, with different animals, etc... You can also decide to print the animals with the name, without the name, or for flashcards.

Here is my example:

Here you can see all the animals with the names:

MIX AND MATCH

In this activity is for four or five year-old-kids.

The pullpils have to read the number (there are only three options) and match the correct answer.

We will play together using the Interactive Blackboard.

After that, when the pupil guess the number, he has to count pensils, blogs, or whatever until the number. The rest of the class can help.
